Template Follower

Hello All here is my newest toy.

I used 1/2" plexie glass to make the follower, I first made three groves in the follower plate, and then made a sliding bracket that could mount into the groves I just made in the plate. Two 1/4" holes for the turn knobs, and three holes 1/4",3/8",1/2" were added for three different size followers.

I am using three clevis pin as followers at this minute. but I just might find/make something better in the future.

I mounted the plexie glass onto the router carriage by the way of a piano hinge. it allows more strength for the mounting.

using the piano hinge alone, this is the way I've been using the template follower in the past, it works in most cases, for lifting and moving the follower off the templates with out losing my location on the machine.

The clevis pins have worked OK so far, but there is some slop in the clearance of the holes and pins. most likely if they cause problems, I will use bolts and nuts to hold the followers on to the follower carriage. ( By using the hinge for mounting makes this a simple fix, if need be.)

Last night I use the followers, and did not notice any problems with the clevis pins. I will have to play with it a little bit more before I'm sure.
But for now, It looks good, works fine, and is getting the job done, for my needs at this moment.

Any suggestions comments, or opinions are ALWAYS WELCOME.

have a good day.
